Studying abroad: the first few days at Anyang university

August 25

It was August 25 when I left Hongdae to go live in the dorms in Anyang. I got a buddy assigned to me and she picked me up at the subway station. Her name is Jinju.

It's me and my buddy! Jinhee and Jordan are in the second picture :)

So we arrived to the dorm (first picture) and then my buddy showed me around in Anyang. We had bingsu together, as you can see in the second picture. It's like shaved ice with mango and sweet milk.

This is Anyang university. It has many buildings and I get lost easily. I still don't really know where all the facilities are and this is my third week in school.

The view around school is to die for. There are so many hills in Anyang. Behind the school, next to the library, there is even a mountain you can climb. So that's what I did with my dorm friends!

That's Jari, Marcel and Jordan :)

I secretly took a picture.

It's called Mountain Surisan! We got to the top and it took us maybe 2 hours. I was so tired, because the Netherlands is just flat and I have never hiked before. But to get to the top was worth all the falling down, sweating and everything.

That's the top... and Jari again and Jordan and me!

Climbing that mountain was really fun. For the Leadership Discovery class we will climb that mountain again next week. I can't wait!

As an exchange student living in dorms, it is very fun to hang out outside, drink a little... The picture above is a few minutes away from our dorm and that's me and Verdi! Verdi is one of my dorm supervisors and she is one of the nicest people ever :)

There was a day when Jordan and I went exploring in Anyang! We went to the old city hall, shopped a bit and had very good dumplings! Bonding time with my roommate was nice :)

The dorm supervisor showed us the Anyang (traditional) market and we had some noodles with clams which was very good.

Those were the first few days before school started! I didn't really tell every event in the right order, but you wouldn't know anyway...
So much more has happened after school started, but I'll save that for another post!

We took a group picture on orientation day:

Thanks for reading & until next time, who knows whenever that is...
