Hongdae, Seoul

Because I live in the Hongdae area, I'm dedicating this post to Hongdae!
Hongdae is an area in Seoul where Hongik University is located, where the subway station is named after. This area is known as the hipster neighborhood with their urban arts, indie music culture and clubs. It gets really busy here at any time of the day. During the day people tend to go to cafes or go shopping and at night there people like to go clubbing.

Gentle Monster and Aland are such cool stores. It saddens me that their stuff is so expensive.

Another cool store: Style Nanda (also expensive :()

Supposedly, there was someone famous visiting this tarot reading place. A lot of people were taking pictures, but I really had no idea what was going on...

Some more street photos!

Everywhere in Hongdae there are street artists that sing, dance, play instruments etc. It's very entertaining to watch! The guys in the next three pictures are my favorite! Especially the guy with the hat, he sings and plays the guitar so well.
Jae and I always come back to Hongdae from exploring Seoul to go and watch street performances till 2 AM! Life is so good when you live in Hongdae.

 Some more street artists:

Trying new food is always fun, so I did... A lot.

Soju and grapefruit flavored ricewine with friends!

Henna tattoos are very popular. The tattoo artists are everywhere in Hongdae. Of course, I had to get a henna tattoo too!

Koreans like cafes a lot. There are all sorts of cafes. I went to the dogcafe, because playing with dogs is fun! There was this one dog that sat on my lap for hours, he was so cute. But when I went to the toilet, he was sitting on another girl's lap :( hahaha

I'm moving into dorms in 2 days! I'm going to live in Anyang, because I'm attending classes at Anyang university next week... I'm really going to miss Hongdae and watching street performances all the time :( I definitely plan on going back to Hongdae, even though it's an hour away from Anyang.

FUN FACT:
In South Korea, just like in China, they sometimes don't have the four on elevators, because four has the same pronunciation as death, isn't that funny? Ha ha ha

Songdo Central Park, Incheon

August 10, 2015

On August 10, Jae and I decided to go to Songdo in Incheon. Songdo Central Park is really big and it's very pretty there. We also heard that a Korean drama (School 2015: Who Are You) we watched was filmed there!

When we got there, we realized it was still a long walk from the subway station we got out at to the park. We actually walked by a lot of university's R&D centers, it was cool to see. And then we got to a point where it looked very modern with a lot of nice and tall buildings.

So pretty!

After another while of walking, we finally got to the park! We decided to go to the traditional looking houses. Turns out that it was a café, so we got some cold drinks to cool down on this hot day! Coffee is expensive in Korea, you could get a full meal with the same amount of money, such a shame.

They were painting the ground

Then I saw a sign that there were deers nearby, I've seen like three of them!

The letters on the building say "get out plz", hahaha.

There were machines so you can work out there, which is quite normal in Korea.

Anyway, I had a lot of fun in Songdo! I would go back, even though it's an hour away from where I live (Hongdae, Seoul) right now. If you ever go to Korea, I recommend you to go to Songdo!

Until next time!
